The JF Boeboe van Wyk Oncology Clinic has officially opened in Springbok, bringing cancer treatment closer to residents in the Northern Cape.
Completed in under a year through a public-private partnership, the clinic offers radiotherapy and other essential oncology services locally, reducing the need for long-distance travel and helping patients stay on schedule with treatment.
The project was supported by mining company Vedanta Zinc International through its corporate social investment programme.
Health officials say the facility strengthens healthcare access in a region that was previously underserved.

Ramatsobane Annah Sekele has been named this year’s The Glen Bursary recipient, securing funding to pursue her studies at the University of Johannesburg.
The Glen Bursary is an annual initiative by The Glen Shopping Centre aimed at supporting high-achieving matriculants who plan to study in commerce-related fields. The programme offers financial assistance of around R60 000 toward tertiary tuition and selects a winner following a competitive application and interview process.
Sekele matriculated in 2025 with an average above 82%, excelling in mathematics and business studies. She will begin a Bachelor of Accounting Science at the university’s Auckland Park campus.
