Soweto Student Secures The Glen Bursary

The Glen Bursary is an annual initiative by The Glen Shopping Centre aimed at supporting high-achieving matriculants who plan to study in commerce-related fields. The programme offers financial assistance of around R60 000 toward tertiary tuition and selects a winner following a competitive application and interview process.
Sekele matriculated in 2025 with an average above 82%, excelling in mathematics and business studies.
She will begin a Bachelor of Accounting Science at the university’s Auckland Park campus.
The next round of the bursary competition is expected to open in October.

98-year-old pool player competes in Las Vegas, extending world record

Ninety-eight-year-old Maggie Kennedy from Jensen Beach, Florida, competed at the BCA Nationals Pool League Tournament in Las Vegas with her team, Sunday Funday, extending her Guinness World Record as the oldest competitive pool player.
Kennedy first set the record in 2021 at age 94 and continues to compete regularly at pool halls along Florida’s Treasure Coast and across the United States.
Her local pool community came together last Sunday, 22 February 2026, raising more than 2,000 dollars to support her trip, including funding a first-class seat.
