The SA Guide-Dogs Association for the Blind will host its annual Family Fun Day on Sunday, 8 March 2026, in Paulshof, Johannesburg.
The event raises funds and awareness to support guide dogs and the services they provide for people with visual impairments.
Families can watch assistance dogs demonstrate their skills, join blindfolded walks, attend arena activities, explore the Kids Zone, and take guided tours of the facilities.
Guests can also participate in the Blind Navigator Challenge and enjoy live music and tickets available online.

Huawei empowers SA coders

Code4Mzansi is inviting South African students, start-ups and tech entrepreneurs to build cloud and artificial intelligence solutions that solve real-world problems.
Participants first complete online training and receive access to development tools and mentorship before spending three months building their projects.
The competition by Huawei, in partnership with the Department of Small Business Development and several universities, has attracted 353 teams made up of more than 1,000 participants.
The winners will share prize money of just under one million rand and gain exposure to industry networks to help grow their digital businesses.

Masikhule empowers ECD centres in Helderberg

Helderberg based NPO, Masikhule, is helping children in under-resourced communities access books, toys, games, and learning materials, while supporting teachers with training and mentorship for Early Childhood Development.
Since 2015, its Early Learning Resource Library has provided around 60 centres with deliveries of theme bags and educational resources.
Volunteers inspect, clean, and repack the materials to ensure every item is ready for the next centre.
In 2024, ILANGA Foundation sponsored a delivery vehicle, allowing it to expand its services and deliver the much needed resources to centres.

Tiisetso Malungane breaks running record

16-year-old Tiisetso Malungane from Pretoria broke the South African Under-17 3000 metres record and won the 1500 metres race at the Curro Podium Grand Finale this past weekend.
He cut eight seconds off his previous best time set at the national age group championships in Cape Town a year ago.
Malungane trains under coach Dillan van Rooyen and is supported by the Ruta Setjhaba Foundation, which also funded Olympic silver medallist Bayanda Walaza:
