Record Numbers at Clearwater Mall Race

The Panorama Running Club’s annual Clearwater Mall Race drew record crowds on Saturday, 23 August, celebrating Clearwater Mall’s 21st anniversary with the addition of a new 21km race. Nearly 2,900 runners took part across the 5km, 10km, and 21km events.
In the 5km, junior runner Joshua Madden claimed first place in 16:42, followed closely by Keion Venter and Izilda Minegen, the first female finisher.

The 10km race saw Andries Sesedi finish in 32:27, with Boikanyo Mothlamme and Fernando Macavele close behind. Boxer Athletics Club’s Cornelia Joubert was the top female in 39:31.
The 21km featured top local runners, with Kabelo Malamu crossing the line in 1:08:50, nearly four minutes ahead of second place. Valencia Lesego Modiba was the first woman finisher in 1:35:55. Spectators lined the route while Honeydew CPF ensured the event ran safely.

Cancer Survivor Launches Farming Institute to Combat Hunger in KwaZulu-Natal

Nonhlanhla Joye, also known as Ma Joye, has turned her personal battle with cancer into a mission to fight hunger. She founded the Umgibe Farming Organics and Training Institute near Pietermaritzburg to teach small-scale farmers how to grow food, process produce, and run sustainable agricultural businesses.
Since receiving accreditation in 2018, the institute has trained more than 600 farmers, focusing on school and community gardens, crop diversification, and grain banks. Programmes are aimed at supporting previously disadvantaged communities and promoting self-sufficiency.
Joye says the goal is to equip learners with both farming and business skills, enabling them to build independent, economically viable enterprises while improving food security in the region.

ilnius in Lithuania hosted the fifth annual Corgi Race, bringing together Welsh Corgi owners from across Europe.
The event saw the adorable dogs dash down a short green course, with a few getting hilariously distracted along the way.
