The City of Johannesburg African Transformation Movement Youth League handed over 150 packs of reusable sanitary pads to grades six and seven learners at Protea Glen Primary School. Each learner received a pack of five pads, generously provided by the Johannesburg-based Spiritual Chords Foundation.
The event included talks on menstrual health, girl safety, and knowing who to contact in emergencies.
Organisers emphasised breaking stigmas around menstruation and ensuring girls never miss school due to lack of sanitary products.
SAPS FCS Soweto Unit Sergeant Mulalo Makwarela highlighted how knowledge about their bodies can empower girls and protect them against abuse.
The donation is part of COJATMYL’s wider campaign to support young girls’ health, education, and safety across Johannesburg.
