Harvard University ranked first globally in the subject.
The rankings measure academic reputation and research output across universities worldwide.
The assessment covers more than 16,000 programmes at 1,500 universities in 95 countries and territories across 55 subjects.

SA raises R40k in two days for Stellenbosch security guard

South Africans raised nearly R40,000 in two days to support Masixole Wellington Ngqungu, a Stellenbosch University security guard.
Wellington initially requested R5,000 to travel to Mthatha in the Eastern Cape for his driver’s licence test.
The funds were raised through social media donations after his story was shared online.
The support will cover his trip and help improve his employment opportunities and income prospects.

KZN Sports Awards honours top athletes

Zakithi Nene, Nonkululeko Mlaba and Precious Mthembu won top honours at the KZN Sports Awards in Durban on 26 April 2026.
Nene claimed Sportsman of the Year after running 43.76 seconds in the 400m at the Kip Keino Classic and securing podium finishes on the Diamond League circuit.
Mlaba earned Sportswoman of the Year after helping South Africa reach the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup final and maintaining high international rankings.
Mthembu won Coach of the Year after developing university athletes and building competitive teams.
