15th annual Pink Day initiative to raise funds for breast cancer care

The 15th annual Pink Day initiative will take place this Sunday the 27th of September, as South Africa's national cricket team, face off against Australia in a One-Day International match at the DP World Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg.
The historic, purpose-driven sporting event aims to raise critical funds and awareness for Breast Cancer.
Proceeds will go towards the Breast Care unit at the Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic Hospital, to strengthen breast cancer detection, treatment and research efforts in the province.
Pink Day which began in 2011 during a Test match between the Proteas and Australia remains one of the most meaningful days in South African cricket.

Tshwane opens upgraded R18 million Plumbing Workshop

The City of Tshwane has officially opened the newly upgraded 18-million-rand Plumbing Workshop at the Tshwane Leadership and Management Academy in Pretoria West.
The facility forms part of the City’s investment in skills development, which aims to support the training of more apprentices each year.
The opening coincided with the graduation of a new group of qualified artisans who have successfully completed the city’s three-year trade programme.
A total of 85 artisans graduated across seven technical trades, including diesel mechanic, motor mechanic, electrical, welding, fitting and and boiler making.
Mayoral committee member for Corporate and Shared Services, Flora Monama, says the investment will allow the City to increase its annual apprentice intake from 15 to 30.

Western Cape boosts Matric exam preparation

Matric learners in the Western Cape will receive additional academic support, as they prepare for the National Senior Certificate examinations.
The provincial Education Department says it will invest 44-million-rand in its Matric School Holiday Programme.
The Department says the funds will be divided across autumn, winter and spring schools.
Over 31 000 matric learners attended the #BackOnTrack winter school classes during the mid-year school holiday, which took place across 8 districts in the province.
The Western Cape’s Peter Johnson says a further 25-million-rand a year will go towards mathematics and science support.
