15th annual Pink Day initiative to raise funds for breast cancer care

The 15th annual Pink Day initiative will take place this Sunday the 27th of September, as South Africa's national cricket team, face off against Australia in a One-Day International match at the DP World Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg.
The historic, purpose-driven sporting event aims to raise critical funds and awareness for Breast Cancer.
Proceeds will go towards the Breast Care unit at the Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic Hospital, to strengthen breast cancer detection, treatment and research efforts in the province.
Pink Day which began in 2011 during a Test match between the Proteas and Australia remains one of the most meaningful days in South African cricket.

Western Cape boosts Matric exam preparation

Matric learners in the Western Cape will receive additional academic support, as they prepare for the National Senior Certificate examinations.
The provincial Education Department says it will invest 44-million-rand in its Matric School Holiday Programme.
The Department says the funds will be divided across autumn, winter and spring schools.
Over 31 000 matric learners attended the #BackOnTrack winter school classes during the mid-year school holiday, which took place across 8 districts in the province.
The Western Cape’s Peter Johnson says a further 25-million-rand a year will go towards mathematics and science support.

Municipal team wins City’s inaugural Innovation Pitch Day

A team of Cape Town municipal workers took top honours at the City’s first Digital Innovation Pitch Day.
The Employees were given a platform to present their ideas for improving service delivery to a panel of judges and fellow City staff, at the City’s first Innovation Pitch Day, which was held at the Cape Town Civic Centre last week.
Seven finalists made it through to the showcase, out of 44 submissions, with proposals ranging from employment solutions to ways of preserving institutional knowledge.
The event was held in connection with the United Nations International Day of Science, Technology and Innovation, placing the focus on how technology and creative thinking can help address practical challenges.
The winning team presented an idea for an AI-powered computer vision intelligence platform aimed at supporting the City’s artisans, technicians and inspectors.
