Johannesburg mayor Dada Morero will officially launch the White City Jabavu Development Project in Soweto today.
The project will deliver new housing opportunities, a re-developed Jabavu Stadium, a youth centre, and multi-sporting facilities.
The city's spokesperson, Virgil James, says the project also includes a memorial garden to commemorate the history and struggle of Jabavu:

Non-profit organisation Distance For Difference is marking 20-years of changing children’s lives.
To celebrate this milestone the organisation is hosting 2-fundraising events.
The GRATITUDE Run was held in Stellenbosch on Wednesday, and in October, the organisation will host THE-500 24-Hour Cycling and Spinning Challenge in Somerset West, where cyclists will aim to cover 500-kilometres in 24-hours.
Over the past two decades, the organisation has raised over R13 million for more than 60 charities across South Africa.

Disney+ has announced that ESPN Africa live channels will be available to South African customers at no extra cost from October 2, 2025.
This addition will bring two 24-hour linear ESPN channels to Disney+, showcasing top live and studio sports programming from around the world.
Subscribers will get access to various sports leagues on ESPN and ESPN 2, including European football, American sports like NBA, NFL, and MLB, women's and college competitions, and rugby leagues.
