The Johannesburg Metro Police Department has issued a road closure alert ahead today's Ride Joburg Cycle Race.
The event includes a 97-kilometre road race and a 35-kilometre short route.
JMPD spokesperson Xolani Fihla says officers will be deployed to ensure safety and manage traffic from 4am to 5pm across affected areas, including Soweto, Randburg, Fourways, and Nasrec.
He urges motorists to plan routes and exercise patience:

Pick’n Pay’s Feed the Nation initiative, born out of the 2020 Covid-19 pandemic, has distributed more than 215-million-rand worth of food over the past 5-years.
This has provided over 45 million meals to individuals and families across South Africa.
The initiative has focused on supporting child-headed households and has assisted nearly 600 schools nationwide.
