Cape Town’s 43rd Toy Run calls for more donations to brighten young lives
Story 1
Cape Town’s 43rd annual Toy Run will bring thousands of bikers, firefighters and community members to Killarney International Raceway on Sunday, 30 November, to collect toys for children in need across the Western Cape.
The City’s Fire and Rescue Service is once again supporting the event, with fire stations acting as drop-off points in the week leading up to it.
Two mass rides will depart from Athlone Stadium and N1 City before converging at Killarney for a day of entertainment, displays and community activities.
Organisers say the need is greater this year and are calling for more donations to support children in homes, hospitals and disadvantaged communities. Those unable to attend can still contribute by donating funds or purchasing virtual toys.

Story 2
A group of South African women, known as the Bookless Club, have transformed their annual “worst gift” tradition into a charitable act.
Instead of buying novelty gifts, they supported Pep’s Lay-By Buddy programme, paying off lay-bys for school clothes and essentials for strangers.
The club’s gatherings, usually filled with laughter and conversation, now combine joy with generosity, easing financial burdens for local families.

Colombia bans future extraction in vast Amazon zone to boost renewable protection
Story 3
Colombia has committed half a million square kilometres of its Amazon biome to renewable and regenerative activities only, banning future oil and mineral extraction.
The area, roughly the size of Sweden, covers 42 percent of Colombia’s territory and seven percent of the Amazon Rainforest.
Acting Environment Minister Irene Vélez Torres said the move aims to prevent forest degradation, river contamination and biodiversity loss while calling on neighbouring countries to coordinate Amazon protection.
Colombia also launched the Special Commission on Environment and Climate to strengthen regional cooperation on sustainable development, biodiversity and forest protection.
