Visually impaired Pretoria rower wins continental medal

Tanna Diplock, a legally blind student from Pretoria, has won a bronze medal in the under-23 doubles race at the African Beach Sprint Championships in East London.
Despite having Retinitis Pigmentosa, which limits her peripheral vision, she has also won silver at last year’s African Championships and national school titles.
Diplock relies on her senses and teamwork to excel in rowing, with her coach guiding her during races.
She aims to medal again at next year’s African Championships and dreams of qualifying for the Olympic Games, showing that determination can overcome significant challenges.

Elangeni TVET College raises over one million rand for development

Around 150 representatives from businesses, industries, academic institutions and communities attended the event, which aimed to support infrastructure upgrades and skills training initiatives.
The fundraising drive collected one million, seventy-five thousand, four hundred rand through sponsorships, table purchases, pledges and auctions.
Deputy Minister Dr Mimmy Gondwe emphasised collaboration between colleges, government and industry to strengthen the TVET sector and boost youth employability.
The event also highlighted the college’s outreach programmes and support for vulnerable students under Principal Zodwa Kula
