The Tributes Excellence Awards has become a premier platform in South Africa for recognizing the achievements of women with disabilities, having honored over 70 extraordinary women since its inception in 2010.
The latest ceremony, held in Durban, recognized 15 remarkable women, including 20-year-old Kamogelo Mokeke and 17-year-old Alexandra Gayapursat, the youngest pair of recipients.
Alexandra, a Grade 10 online student, has lived life to the fullest since her amputation, taking on thrilling adventures like quad biking, bungee jumping off Bloukrans Bridge, and the world's longest zip line.
Kamogelo Mokeke, a gymnast who shared the North West Sportswoman of the Year with a Disability award in 2022, represents a new generation of athletes who refuse to let physical limitations define their potential.
