Deputy Head at Durban's Kearsney College, Marc Ancillotti, ,made an extraordinary sacrifice by donating a kidney to Justin Fletcher, a former student he taught 25 years ago. Facing end-stage renal failure, Justin was running out of time, but Marc stepped forward after seeing a plea for help, pushing through medical challenges to make the lifesaving donation.With support from a crowdfunding campaign, the surgery was a success, giving Justin a second chance at life.

Mining giant Harmony Gold has invested 1.5 billion rand at its Stilfontein operations in the City of Matlosana in the North West province. North West Premier Lazarus Mokgosi, applauded the Investement, which creates investment opportunities and addresess unemployment in the province. An Australian man recycled cans and bottles and accumulated enough cash for a down payment on a house. 36-year-old Damian Gordon said he was "casually aware" of a regional "Return and Earn" program in New South Wales, which offered ten cents for every can collected and returned to a designated exchange point. Reverse vending machines accept empty cans, glass bottles, and plastic containers, and are one of the ways the Return and Earn program allows residents to turn trash into cash. After a festival in 2017, Gordon and other volunteers separated 40,000 recyclable containers from other refuse. He "was amazed to walk away with a whopping 4,000 dollars after just one event, and the single-day take gave him the "wild idea."
