Mining giant Harmony Gold has invested 1.5 billion rand at its Stilfontein operations in the City of Matlosana in the North West province. North West Premier Lazarus Mokgosi, applauded the Investement, which creates investment opportunities and addresess unemployment in the province. 52 volunteer medical professionals joined forces at the Nelson Mandela Children’s Hospital to perform cleft lip and palate surgeries for around 40 children. Led by Operation Smile South Africa, the initiative tackled the growing surgical backlog, offering these children a chance to eat, speak, and thrive without stigma. Beyond the operating theatre, the programme ensures ongoing support, including speech therapy and psychosocial care.
This effort marks a crucial step in bridging healthcare gaps across South Africa.

AI Gemini is an AI-driven robot that creates traditional Chinese landscape paintings. According to reports, this robot is the first-ever artificial intelligence ink artist in the world.
It uses a robotic arm purchased online and re-programmed with an attached paintbrush. An algorithm interprets data sets directing the robotic arm to paint mountain contours to form a landscape on Xuan paper, a thin rice paper traditionally used for painting. One series of paintings, inspired by China sending a lunar rover to the far side of the moon, used information from a public NASA 3D moon map. Data such as stock prices has also been used, where the stock index ups and downs can be interpreted as mountains and valleys.
