African Leaders Tackle Infrastructure at Cape Town Forum

Minister of Public Works and Infrastructure, Dean McPherson, is hosting ministers, premiers, and MECs from across Africa.
The meeting is currently underway in Cape Town for the first day of the 2025 Sustainable Infrastructure Development Symposium.
The two-day meeting, known as the Infrastructure Leaders Forum, aims to fix poorly run municipalities, push for structural reform, reduce red tape, and boost infrastructure investment.
Minister of Communications and Digital Technology, Solly Malatsi, says South Africa is also focusing on attracting digital infrastructure investment to become a hub for data centres.

Lesotho Water Tunnel Reopens, Easing SA Supply Pressure

The Lesotho Highlands Water Tunnel has reopened following postponements for two months.
The maintenance, repair and refurbishment work began in October last year and was initially scheduled to be completed within six months.

The tunnel channels water from Lesotho to South Africa delivering around 700 million cubic meters of water each year into the Vaal integrated system, which supplies at least five provinces across the country.
