Re.Bag.Re.Use celebrates five years

The Re.Bag.Re.Use initiative on Wednesday celebrated five years of transforming discarded bread bags into practical products while creating opportunities for local women.
Since launching in 2021, the project has grown to employ 21 women who have transformed nearly 200-thousand bread bags into bags, mats, hats and home décor.
The initiative has not only reduced plastic waste but has also generated an income for participants, with part of the proceeds going to local charities.

Training Programme empowers homeless

People experiencing homelessness in Northcliff are gaining new skills and renewed hope through a community training programme.
The Tshepo Community Development Initiative offers weekly classes in knitting, crochet, sewing and looming, helping participants learn skills they can use to support themselves and give back to their communities.
So far, they have made Easter bunnies for elderly residents and are now knitting beanies for children and adults.
With 11 donated sewing machines and more materials, the project is set to expand its training and produce cushions and blankets for vulnerable people.
