UJ ranked Africa's top university for sustainability

The University of Johannesburg has been ranked the leading university in South Africa and Africa in the 2026 Times Higher Education Sustainability Impact Ratings.
UJ placed 39th globally, putting it among the world's top 40 universities for sustainability.
The university also ranked first in South Africa across eight United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, including quality education, climate action and reducing inequality.
The latest results follow UJ's recent rise into the global top 300 in the QS World University Rankings and a record performance in the U.S. News Best Global Universities Rankings

Cape Town home opens workshop to empower young adults

Home of Hope in Cape Town has officially opened a new workshop at its Anselm Farm facility to help young adults develop practical skills and build confidence.
The organisation supports vulnerable children and youth, including those living with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders.
The new space will allow higher functioning residents to train in craft and production skills, while tailored programmes will support those needing additional care.
The initiative forms part of Home of Hope’s broader skills development project, which already includes farming, poultry and composting activities aimed at creating independence and future income opportunities.
