A literacy project at Diepsloot Combined School is helping young learners thrive, thanks to the efforts of trained youth tutors from the local community.Through the Edu Fun initiative, unemployed school leavers receive teaching experience while guiding Grade 2 and 3 learners in reading, writing and comprehension.The school achieved an impressive 99.2% matric pass rate last year, with the programme credited for helping build strong foundations. Many tutors go on to pursue careers in education, creating lasting impact beyond the classroom.The programme combines skills development with improved learning outcomes for the community

Angela Yeung Summits Everest for GBV Survivors

South African mountaineer, philanthropist, and Brand SA ambassador Angela Yeung reached the summit of Mount Everest on 24 May via the challenging North Side route. Her climb was part of a broader campaign through her non-profit, the Impilo Collection Foundation, to support survivors of gender-based violence (GBV). Yeung aimed to collect 8,849 bras — one for every metre of Everest — as a symbol of dignity and solidarity for survivors. Yeung says Each bra that is collected is a message that victims of GBV are seen, valued, and deserving of dignity. SOUND
