South Africa has finished sixth overall at the 2026 Dance World Cup Finals in Ireland after winning an impressive 44 medals.The 18-member team competed against dancers from more than 60 countries, bringing home 15 gold, 18 silver and 11 bronze medals. They impressed across solo, duo, trio and group events, showcasing South African talent on the world stage.
Team SA choreographer Tiaan Visser says the results show that South African dancers can compete at the highest level.

South African sprinter Bayanda Walaza has run into the record books after clocking a personal best of nine point eight nine seconds in the 100 metres in Slovakia.The 20-year-old won the race and became the fourth-fastest South African over the distance.Walaza’s time puts him behind only Akani Simbine, Benjamin Richardson and Gift Leotlela on the national all-time list.

Thousands of people are expected to take to the streets this morning, for the 702 Jozi My Jozi Walk the Talk. Starting and ending at the historic Ellis Park Stadium in Johannesburg, participants can choose from 5km, 8km and 15km routes, passing some of the city’s best-known landmarks before enjoying live entertainment and family activities. This event transcends a simple walk – it is a powerful celebration of community spirit, health, family bonding and meaningful social impact.
