South African brandy producer KWV has done well on the world stage after winning multiple awards at two leading international competitions. At the International Spirits Challenge, KWV earned five Double Gold medals and three Gold medals across its brandy range. The company also received a Gold & Style Winner title at the World Brandy Awards, reinforcing its status as one of the world's most recognised brandy producers. The awards reflect more than a century of craftsmanship and showcase the quality of South African brandy.

South African scientist Professor Glenda Gray has been formally admitted as a Fellow of the Royal Society in the United Kingdom, one of the world's most prestigious scientific institutions. Gray, an NRF A-rated researcher, is among more than 90 leading scientists from around the world elected to the Fellowship this year. Her groundbreaking research has helped prevent HIV transmission from mothers to babies, advanced HIV prevention for women, and contributed to COVID-19 vaccine research that confirmed the safety and effectiveness of vaccines in South Africa.

A group of young South Africans is using drone technology to support police, emergency services and local communities. C-Tech, was developed through the non-profit Corinthians Africa’s STEAM education programme. Students have taken what they learned in the classroom and applied it to real-world challenges, using drones to provide aerial support during emergencies.During a day when several protests broke out across southern Johannesburg, police resources were stretched. C-Tech was called in to provide a live aerial view, helping officers identify which gatherings were peaceful and which required urgent attention.
