Minister Gwarube unveils Bana Pele ECD registration campaign

Basic Education Minister Siviwe Gwarube has launched the Bana Pele early childhood development centres registration at a roadmap leadership summit in Braamfontein in Johannesburg on Thursday.
The goal is to get all ECDC centres in South Africa registered.
Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana previously announced that Government allocated R10 million towards early childhood development.
Minister Gwarube engaged with with provincial stakeholders in the sector, in an attempt to improve early childhood development.
The Minister says for numeracy and literacy rates to improve, teaching and learning should begin at ECD level.

Mandela honoured through 46664 robotic surgery initiative in the Free State

A collaboration between the University of the Free State, the Free State Department of Health, African Synergy Health, CMR Surgical and Marcus Medical aims to honour Nelson Mandela with a series of robotic surgeries.
In honour of Madiba’s prison number 46664, the initiative will include four surgeons, performing six robotic procedures, on six patients, over six days between the 21st and the 28th of July across four specialities.
This forms part of the Mandela Week Surgical Marathon hosted by African Synergy Health, a registered not-for-profit, public benefit organisation established to alleviate surgical backlogs in the public sector and other African hospitals.
Following successful missions in Gauteng and the Eastern Cape, this year's programme aims to complete 67 charitable procedures per province, in honour of Mandela’s legacy.
