Schools, churches and community groups in Johannesburg have organised fundraising drives and support initiatives to assist 10-year-old Nathan, who is undergoing treatment for leukemia.
His school collected donations and care parcels, while churches coordinated prayer gatherings and meal deliveries to support the family.
Community members also raised funds online to assist with medical and transport costs.
The combined efforts are helping reduce financial and daily pressures on Nathan’s family during his treatment.

Twelve township rugby clubs have been given the chance to showcase their young athletes’ skills at the TRY Festival, held at a stadium in Industria, Johannesburg.
Last week the young rugby players competed in knockout matches while organisers connected players with coaches, mentors, and development programmes, opening doors to education and leadership.
Families cheered, children joined in activities, and DJs performed, creating a day full of energy and community spirit.
TRY spokesperson Hanyani Baloyi says the festival empowered young athletes, strengthened local ties, and left everyone smiling.

Gauteng Central won the interprovincial tennis tournament in Pretoria, beating KZN A, Eastern Cape Aloes, and Western Cape Cavaliers to claim the title.
Standout performances came from Connor Miller, who won four of his five matches and earned selection to the U17 South African schools’ team touring England in June, and Sekani Vara, whose strong play helped secure key victories.
The win is a boost for students and the local community to celebrate their talent and the teamwork behind Gauteng Central tennis.
Miller thanked his schools, coaches, and family for their support, calling the selection a dream come true.
