Riverside resident Phumzile Nhlapo shared a post on a local Facebook page calling on the community to support learners ahead of the school year.
The post led to volunteers, local businesses and the Dakalo ya Pfunzo Foundation getting involved, providing fresh haircuts, hairstyles and essential school supplies.

Rare 114 litre Red Wing crock sells for R600 000 in Nebraska
Teaser / Tailpiece story
A 114 litre Red Wing stoneware crock owned by Nebraska resident Lois Jurgens for 40 years has sold for around R600 000 at auction on her 91st birthday.
The crock, stamped twice by the maker and decorated with a butterfly design, had been expected to fetch only R1 700. Its size, salt glaze and unusual markings made it highly prized by collectors, attracting strong competition at the sale.
Lois missed the start of the auction while volunteering, but arrived in time to witness the final sale.
