Andru Van Zyl has completed a 2,800-kilometre solo cycle from Polokwane to Cape Town, raising more than R615,000 for the CHOC Childhood Cancer Foundation.
Andru set out at the start of his festive holiday, inspired by a friend’s cancer treatment, aiming to support children and teenagers battling cancer. His original fundraising goal of R300,000 was more than doubled thanks to contributions from communities, fellow cyclists, and local businesses along the route.
The journey combined endurance with compassion, turning each kilometre into practical and emotional support for families in need. Andru received a hero’s welcome in Cape Town yesterday, celebrating the impact of one young person’s commitment to making a difference.

Windsor East swimming pool restored for community use
