New eVisa for Souh Africans travelling to UK
Story 1
South Africans applying for UK visas will now receive their permission as a digital eVisa instead of a physical passport stamp or sticker.
The new eVisa system helps business travellers and holidaymakers by allowing them to access and share their visa status online, making travelling and official processes faster and secure.
Applicants can access their eVisa through their UK Visas and Immigration account and share a digital code to prove their status for travel, work or accommodation.
The rollout is gradual, but most applicants will now receive only an eVisa, while immigration rules remain unchanged.

Volunteers came from Johannesburg, Pretoria, Sandton, Soweto, Thokoza, and Vanderbijlpark.
The One-Two Blood Drive campaign encourages one donor to inspire two more, creating a cycle of donations.
SANBS representative Boitumelo Sentsho says the initiative directly contributed to easing hospital blood shortages and demonstrated widespread community participation in saving lives.

Wits scientist launch RhISOTOPE Project
Story 3
Scientists at University of the Witwatersrand have launched the RhISOTOPE Project to help stop rhino poaching by making horns traceable.
Researchers insert small amounts of radioactive isotopes into rhino horns, allowing authorities to detect them at airports, harbours and border posts.
Pilot tests conducted in 2024 and 2025 confirmed the process is safe for the animals and conservation teams.
The project aims to make illegal trade easier to detect and increase the risk for traffickers targeting South Africa’s rhinos.
