Skukuza Airport Named World’s Most Beautiful
Story 2
Skukuza Airport, located in Kruger National Park, has been named the most beautiful airport in the world by Forbes. Airlink operates direct flights from Johannesburg, Durban, and Cape Town, and charter planes also use the airport.
The airport, near the Skukuza main camp and the Sabi Sand conservancy, first opened in 1959 and was reopened just over a decade ago to improve access to the park.
It is run as a public-private partnership and handles 20 flights a day from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Forbes highlighted its recent renovation, describing a design intended to welcome travellers after time in the park. SANParks has recently invited proposals for an operator to manage the airport for the next 10 years.
