UJ and GWF partner to support rural students

The University of Johannesburg and the Good Work Foundation have joined in a 3-year partnership to support rural students in South Africa.
The collaboration will see UJ postgraduate students conduct fieldwork at GWF campuses in Hazyview and Bushbuckridge, and study how the foundation’s programmes improve skills and work readiness.
The partnership gives school-leavers access to digital, entrepreneurship and career skills training, helping them enter jobs, start businesses, or continue their studies.
The collaboration is helping GWF reach rural communities and make a bigger impact.

Masikhule empowers ECD centres in Helderberg
Story 2
Helderberg based NPO, Masikhule, is helping children in under-resourced communities access books, toys, games, and learning materials, while supporting teachers with training and mentorship for Early Childhood Development.
Since 2015, its Early Learning Resource Library has provided around 60 centres with deliveries of theme bags and educational resources.
Volunteers inspect, clean, and repack the materials to ensure every item is ready for the next centre.
In 2024, ILANGA Foundation sponsored a delivery vehicle, allowing it to expand its services and deliver the much needed resources to centres.

SPAR Women’s Grand Prix total prize money increased

The SPAR Women’s Grand Prix has increased the total prize money to over R1.9 million for its 18th anniversary series.
The series runs across five 10km races in Cape Town, Durban, Tshwane and Gqeberha, with prizes for overall winners, age categories and the top South African finishers.
Since 2008, the event has helped South African women compete, earn and gain national recognition, with international athletes joining since 2019 to raise competition levels.
Glenrose Xaba has won the series three times and as takes part this year, she aims to make history as the first athlete to win four times.

SA and Korean chefs unite

The South African Chefs Association and the Korean Cultural Centre in South Africa have joined forces to share culinary traditions from both countries.
The partnership will bring chefs together to demonstrate cooking techniques, lead masterclasses, and host a joint Chef’s Table experience in Johannesburg and Pretoria.
As part of the programme a Korean-South African Culinary Exchange was held last month, giving chefs and food lovers a chance to learn, taste and explore new flavours.
Korean Cultural Centre's Jaeil Lee says through its partnership with SA Chefs, the organisation aims to deepen cultural exchange:
