Samsung Solve for Tomorrow competition

Grade 10 and 11 learners are given the opportunity to develop STEM solutions that address community and environmental challenges in the Samsung Solve for Tomorrow competition.
The competition invites learners from all public schools across South Africa to submit projects while receiving guidance from mentors.
Top teams can win STEM equipment and all participants gain hands-on experience that strengthens their problem-solving and innovation skills.
The programme supports the Department of Basic Education’s goals of improving science, technology, engineering, and mathematics education and building a diverse pipeline of future innovators.

WeLoveU Foundation hosts its 839th Worldwide Blood Drive

Over 180 lives were potentially saved as the International WeLoveU Foundation hosted its 839th Worldwide Blood Drive on Sunday at the Modderfontein SANBS donor centre.
More than 60-volunteers gathered and 59 donors gave a total of 26.5 litres of blood.
Volunteers came from Johannesburg, Pretoria, Sandton, Soweto, Thokoza, and Vanderbijlpark.
The One-Two Blood Drive campaign encourages one donor to inspire two more, creating a cycle of donations.
SANBS representative Boitumelo Sentsho says the initiative directly contributed to easing hospital blood shortages and demonstrated widespread community participation in saving lives.

LIV Golf boost for young talent

Founder of the DiG Foundation, Songezo Sonamzi says the arrival of LIV Golf in South Africa could create greater exposure and opportunities for the young golfers the organisation supports.
The foundation mentors young golfers from disadvantaged backgrounds and provides facilities where children can learn golf at no cost.
Sonamzi says the exposure from an international event can help the golfers gain experience, recognition, and access to resources that were previously out of reach:

Springboks coach Rassie Erasmus says playing against the Barbarians in Gqeberha in June to kick-start their Test season will be an ideal opportunity to get the players match-ready.
The game will be played two weeks before the team's inaugural Nations Championship match against England at Ellis Park in Johannesburg.
Erasmus says the key for his team will be to focus on structures and what they want to achieve on the field.
