Vaal River Reopens For Boating Season

Residents of the Vaal in southern Gauteng have celebrated Heritage Day with the reopening of the Vaal River for the boating season.
The Vaal Orange Catchment Management Agency, Department of Water and Sanitation and Rand Water have cleared invasive water hyacinth that had affected boating and fishing.
The effort is also helping improve conditions for aquatic life by allowing more sunlight and oxygen into the water.
The reopening means residents can once again enjoy boating and other activities on the river

A Knysna man has completed his 500th parkrun, turning years of Saturday morning 5km events into a remarkable personal milestone.
Rob Green reached the milestone at the Knysna parkrun, with more than 200 runners and walkers taking part in the event.
His parkrun journey has also taken him to events around the world, combining his love of travel with his commitment to the weekly 5km.
Green says reaching 500 finishes is a testament to his consistency, perseverance and love for parkrun.

Kilimanjaro Climb Raises R30 000 For Charity

Farrarmere’s Nolan Pillay has climbed Mount Kilimanjaro with his son to raise funds for two organisations supporting vulnerable communities.
The expedition raised R15 000 each for Blind South Africa and Nurturing Minds, which supports children with autism in Durban.
Pillay completed the climb alongside his son Tremayne and another father-and-son team, turning the challenge into a fundraising effort.
The expedition is part of his Be The Best Version of Yourself Foundation, which has raised funds for different causes through Kilimanjaro climbs since 2019.
