Community Cleaners Tackle Litter In Fairland Parks

Community Cleaners volunteers recently cleared litter and fallen branches from King and Wilson Park and Union Jack Park in Fairland.
The volunteers also cleared rubbish from the spruits and maintained shared green spaces across Fairland, Berario and Northcliff.
At Union Jack Park, residents raised about R70 000 to install a fence around the 35 000-square-metre park, keeping vehicles out of the green space.
The project used about 420 gum poles, with one resident donating 200 of them.

A Knysna man has completed his 500th parkrun, turning years of Saturday morning 5km events into a remarkable personal milestone.
Rob Green reached the milestone at the Knysna parkrun, with more than 200 runners and walkers taking part in the event.
His parkrun journey has also taken him to events around the world, combining his love of travel with his commitment to the weekly 5km.
Green says reaching 500 finishes is a testament to his consistency, perseverance and love for parkrun.

Sixteen-year-old Alberton teen Lola-Hope Myburgh’s teddy bear drive has collected more than 1 000 bears for children in hospitals and care facilities.
After spending time in hospital herself, Lola-Hope started the drive to give young patients something comforting to hold during difficult times.
She has already delivered 130 teddy bears to children at Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic Hospital, with more donations now ready to be distributed.
Schools, organisations and community members have helped the campaign grow.
