Finalists in the Miss South Africa pageant visited the Letsibogo Girls School in Soweto in celebration of the International Day of the Girl Child.

The visit formed part of the organisation’s Empower Youth Africa initiative, which encourages young learners to pursue studies and careers in high-demand fields such as science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

Gauteng Motorists warned of heavy traffic amidst G20 Summit preparations

Gauteng motorists can expect major traffic disruptions today in the cities of Tshwane, Johannesburg and Ekurhuleni.

This comes as authorities prepare for operational readiness ahead of the upcoming G20 Leaders Summit next month.
High security routes including the N1, N3, N12, M1, R21, R24 and the R512 will be affected.

The operation will result in road closures, lane restrictions and rolling traffic stops between 8am and 2pm today.

Water and Sanitation Department awards 54 bursaries to top performing students

The Deputy minister of Water and Sanitation, David Mahlobo has applauded 54 outstanding high school learners who have been awarded bursaries through the department’s Learning Academy.

15 primary school learners also received cash prizes totalling R225, 000 on behalf of their schools at the Department’s Water and Sanitation Educational Programme National Adjudication.

Mahlobo says the awards are paving the way for a brighter future in the water and sanitation sector.

Singapore has retained its position for the world’s strongest passport in the October 2025 update of the Henley Passport index, granting its citizens visa-free access to 193 countries.

The city-state, which has consistently ranked first, also benefits from smooth immigration with minimal security checks globally.

The index ranks the world’s passports based on the number of destinations their holders can enter without a prior visa.
