The initiative forms part of the province’s broader campaign to upgrade key mobility corridors, improve road safety, and strengthen municipal maintenance capacity.
Diale-Tlabela says Mogale City was prioritised due to high traffic volumes and its strategic economic importance.
She emphasised that Magalies Road remains a vital route supporting residents’ travel, business activity, tourism access, and regional freight movement.

Melville's iconic 7th Street is undergoing a major transformation, with restoration work underway to revive it and boost safety.
The Melville Business Association and Melville Residents Association are leading the project, aiming to restore the street's appeal ahead of The Happening event in March 2026.
The project includes paving repairs and curb repainting, with the MBA and MRA funding the project.
Both associations are also considering an Adopt-a-Segment initiative, where businesses and residents can take responsibility for maintaining small sections of the street.

According to recent data from the United Nations’ World Tourism Organisation, Chinese travellers were in 2024 the biggest outbound spending category by country.
Economic Growth Mayoral Committee Member, James Vos, says they will now move to expand the metro’s reach to other major social platforms in China, where they will leverage the growing library of Chinese language content, including articles, brochures, and destination videos:
