The Starbucks Foundation has awarded FoodForward SA about R188,000 grant following a nomination by Rand Capital Coffee, the local Starbucks licensee.
The funding will support the Food Gardens Connect programme, which helps unemployed people grow food, build skills, and earn income, strengthening household food security in vulnerable communities.
The expansion will extend the programme to five new partner organisations and is expected to benefit around 800 people across participating communities.
The grant forms part of the Foundation’s Global Community Impact Grants programme, which funds local nonprofit initiatives aimed at improving livelihoods and community resilience.
