Taiwan offshore platform uses AI drones to remove ocean plastic waste
Teaser / Tailpiece story
A new offshore platform off the coast of Taiwan is being used to help remove plastic waste from the ocean using AI powered drones.
The system, known as Circular Blue and developed by smartphone case maker RHINOSHIELD, operates like a seaborne cleaning station that detects and collects floating pollution.
It uses aerial and water based drones to identify waste hotspots and gather debris, while also using solar power and onboard filtration systems to process different types of plastic.
The platform can operate with minimal human involvement and also supports marine research activities.
