Operation Smile South Africa and Nelson Mandela Children’s Hospital will screen children with cleft lip and palate conditions in Johannesburg on 29 May.
The programme aims to reduce Gauteng’s backlog of cleft surgeries and will provide operations for up to 40 children from 29 to 31 May.
Around 50 medical volunteers, including surgeons, nurses and speech therapists, will work with hospital staff during the surgical weekend.
Families of children aged six months to 12 years are encouraged to register for assessment and possible free treatment.
