Today marks the final day of the RMB Latitudes Art Fair at Johannesburg’s Shepstone Gardens. Now in its fourth edition, the fair celebrates contemporary African art, spotlighting Botswana in a dedicated rooftop showcase. Launched in 2019, Latitudes has grown into a hybrid platform hosting over 2,000 artists. This year’s theme, “Co-production,” highlights collaboration across borders. Talks feature global cultural leaders, while the Index section, curated by artist Bonolo Kavula, champions self-representing artists and mentorship in the African art space.

The University of Pretoria has awarded an honorary doctorate to Associate Professor Makhosazana Xaba, recognising her exceptional contribution to literature, feminist thought, and cultural activism. A celebrated poet, short story writer, and editor, Xaba’s work explores gender, memory, and healing. Honoured during UP’s Autumn 2025 Graduation, Xaba said the recognition affirms the power of literature to inspire inclusivity, compassion, and social change in South Africa:

The William Humphreys Art Gallery in Kimberley is showcasing two powerful exhibitions: My Cup Runneth Over by Bongi Bengu and Spirits and Souls by Osan Obert. Curated by Chibbe Maku, the works explore themes of identity. Held during Africa Month, the exhibitions celebrate African heritage and unity through cultural expression.
