The facility replaces a grass field that often limited play, especially during bad weather, and now provides a year round professional surface for training and matches.
The project, supported by Unite180 Church, has also helped launch the Ratels Hockey Club, opening access to players from surrounding areas.

Mmakau water project brings relief through rainwater harvesting

A community-led initiative in Mmakau north of Pretoria is helping residents cope with long standing water shortages through rainwater harvesting and small scale food gardens.
The project, supported by the Bryanston Catholic Church, was started by retired nurse Cecilia Moloantoa after she returned to her home village during the COVID 19 lockdown.
It provides households with water tanks, guttering and basic plumbing support to collect rainwater, while also encouraging families to grow vegetables for food security.
Since its launch in 2019, the initiative has installed several tanks and continues to expand with support from local partners and sponsors.
