Four girls from Wynberg Girls’ Junior School—Makaylah, Lucy, Kate, and Emily—won the national Kids’ Lit Quiz and have now been invited to compete in the World Championships in New Zealand.
They meet weekly in the school library to read, review, and test each other on books, building the skills that led to their success.
The team first won the Western Cape round before claiming the national title, and the school says their dedication and teamwork have made them an inspiration to everyone.

Footprints 4 Sam launches minibus to help children reach medical care

The Footprints 4 Sam Trust is helping vulnerable children in Cape Town get to life-saving medical appointments with the launch of a new “Super Sam Hero” minibus.
Since 2018, the “Sam se Bussies” programme has transported over 16,700 patients, with the new minibus replacing an older bus that served 7,800 children.
Based at the Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital, the Trust provides reliable transport that reduces stress for families, giving children consistent access to critical care.
Footprints 4 Sam plans to bring its buses to Johannesburg later this year, giving even more children across South Africa a safe ride to the medical care that can change their lives.
