A literacy project at Diepsloot Combined School is helping young learners thrive, thanks to the efforts of trained youth tutors from the local community.
Through the Edu Fun initiative, unemployed school leavers receive teaching experience while guiding Grade 2 and 3 learners in reading, writing and comprehension.
The school achieved an impressive 99.2% matric pass rate last year, with the programme credited for helping build strong foundations.
Many tutors go on to pursue careers in education, creating lasting impact beyond the classroom.
The programme combines skills development with improved learning outcomes for the community.

The University of Cape Town’s Graduate School of Business has partnered with the Transport Education and Training Authority to launch a year-long Digital Boot Camp aimed at upskilling talent in the transport sector.
Fifteen participants were selected from over 300 applicants for intensive training in fields such as data analytics, web development and UX/UI design.

As Madiba Day approaches, Care Bears from Cedar Lakes are gearing up to make a meaningful impact.
Led by Lisa Sukdev, the team began their preparations on 23 June by purchasing essential items at a Fourways grocery store.
They are calling on the generous Fourways community to donate non-perishables, dry goods, and toiletries to support those in need.
Donations will be handed to Renew Church in Fourways, which distributes food hampers every Wednesday to identified beneficiaries with dignity and accountability.
The team is committed to ensuring every contribution makes a real difference in the lives of those who need it most.
