Brave Collective Hosts Women’s Empowerment Event

The Golden Delight Foundation has launched a free WhatsApp and USSD mental health support service to help women across South Africa access care.
The service allows women to request confidential support, connect with psycho-social workers and receive counselling or referrals.
The initiative forms part of the Far From Okay campaign, which addresses challenges such as stress, grief, burnout and financial pressure.
The foundation says the goal is to make mental health support easier to access for women in their everyday lives.

SA Learners Shine at World Spelling Bee

South African learners have made their mark at the World Spelling Bee Championship in Shanghai, China, with Team South Africa finishing fourth overall.
Leading the team's standout performances was 13-year-old Mbulelo Tolom from Klerksdorp Primary School in the North West, who placed sixth in the world.
The Grade 7 learner was the youngest member of the six-person team and competed against older learners from across the globe.
The competition took place from 13 to 20 July.

SA Dancer Makes Ballet History

South African ballet dancer Candice Desilets has graduated from the Vaganova Academy in St Petersburg, Russia, becoming the first South African to complete the programme.
Candice was accepted into the academy in 2022 after training at The Russian School of Ballet from the age of 10.
She spent four years studying the Vaganova method, a classical ballet training system taught around the world:

The Weeknd has become the first artist to sell out six shows at Stade de France in Paris during a single tour.
His After Hours Til Dawn tour attracted more than 500,000 fans in France this summer and has sold out 13 stadium shows across the country.
The tour has sold more than 7.5 million tickets across 153 shows worldwide, with the final leg set to take place in Asia later this year.
The Weeknd is also using the tour to support education and hunger relief programmes through partnerships with Global Citizen and the United Nations World Food Programme.
