UJ and Good Work Foundation Partner to Boost Rural Student Outcomes

The University of Johannesburg and the Good Work Foundation have launched a three-year research partnership to improve the well-being, education, and employment prospects of students in rural South Africa.
The collaboration will combine UJ’s research expertise with GWF’s practical experience, tracking student outcomes and evaluating digital, entrepreneurship, and work-readiness programmes.
Postgraduate UJ students will gain fieldwork experience at GWF campuses in Hazyview and Bushbuckridge, while co-authored research will support evidence-based innovation in rural skills development.

Lwandle Library to Double in Size in R14.8 Million Upgrade

The Hector Pietersen Memorial Library is set to double in size as part of a 14-point-8 million rand upgrade aimed at expanding learning and digital access opportunities.
The City of Cape Town says construction is expected to begin at the end of this month and will take around six months to complete.
The upgrade will include a new extension with dedicated study areas, expanded children’s library space, improved SmartCape facilities and a new main entrance.
The library currently has more than two thousand active members and recorded over 16 thousand visits in the final quarter of 2025.
The City says the investment is aimed at strengthening education, digital inclusion and community development in Lwandle.
