South African Adventurer Completes World’s Highest Marathon
Story 2
South African adventurer Sibusiso Vilane has completed what is believed to be the world’s highest marathon, running a 42.2 kilometre descent on Ojos del Salado in Chile.
The world’s tallest volcano stands at 6,893 metres above sea level, where oxygen levels are roughly 44 percent of those at sea level.
Vilane, who previously summited Mount Everest and skied to the South Pole, says years of endurance experience prepared him for the extreme conditions.
Only five of the 10 runners who attempted the summit were able to begin the marathon descent due to the cold and steep terrain.
Vilane says his drive comes from pushing his potential and serving a purpose beyond himself.

Gauteng Invests in Water Infrastructure to End Outages
Story 3
Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi has assured residents that water disruptions will be addressed with major infrastructure upgrades.
R760 million has been allocated for projects in Johannesburg, including a new reservoir, water tower in Brixton, and an emergency pumping station, with a 5 km pipeline expected by year’s end.
Officials say many areas’ taps have already been restored, and further work will strengthen connections to the Lesotho Highlands Water Project.
Lesufi says the upgrades will secure a more reliable water supply for communities across the province.
