UK Launches eVisa for South Africans
Story 2
South Africans travelling to the UK will from today, 25 February 2026, receive visas digitally as secure eVisas, replacing physical passport stamps and stickers.
The eVisa confirms identity, visa type, and permitted activities in the UK, whether visiting, studying, or working.
Stored online in a UKVI account, it is safer, easier to access, and speeds up border checks and proof of status for jobs or accommodation.
The rollout is gradual, but most applicants will now receive only an eVisa, while immigration rules remain unchanged.
