Story 2
To the Western Cape where the Mdzananda Animal Clinic and Shelter distributed 332 pet food gift packs to dogs, cats and their owners in Khayelitsha this week as part of a Christmas outreach programme.
Staff and volunteers delivered food and treats directly to households across the township, supporting pet owners during the festive season.
The organisation reports an increase in pet abandonments over December, linked to families travelling without arranging care for their animals.
The clinic says the programme supports animal welfare while assisting households facing financial pressure during the holidays.
