The Rosebank Homeless Association’s success in 2025 is thanks to strong community partnerships.
Chair of the organisation Tessa Weakley highlighted the help of the Rosebank Management District, Hyprop, Africrest, local churches, SAPS, businesses, Kingsmead College, Wits research, The Zone, and the wider community.
The organisation is grateful for their Community Collection Box, which provides donated clothes and blankets to keep people warm and clothed.
Weakley says the organisation will continue to help where they can, as will the churches, businesses and members of the public.

Mdzananda Animal Clinic and Shelter distributed 332 pet food gift packs to dogs, cats and their owners in Khayelitsha this week as part of a Christmas outreach programme.
Staff and volunteers delivered food and treats directly to households across the township, supporting pet owners during the festive season.
The organisation reports an increase in pet abandonments over December, linked to families travelling without arranging care for their animals.
The clinic says the programme supports animal welfare while assisting households facing financial pressure during the holidays.

The Pan South African Language Board, in partnership with Focal Points, has named “G20” as South Africa’s Word of the Year 2025, reflecting the country’s hosting of the G20 summit.
The social media word of the year is “Valid“, popular among Gen Z.
The South African Sign Language sign of the year is the SASL sign for “I Love You,” highlighting cultural and social trends.
