Roodepoort residents came together at the Irish Rock Women’s Club for a South African National Blood Service donation drive.
The August event attracted donors throughout the day, with community members giving blood to help patients in need.
Cupcakes of Hope also joined the initiative, raising funds for children with cancer through cupcake and doughnut sales.
Two more blood donation drives are planned for October and December.

SA athletes take on cross country truck pull for charity

Twenty of South Africa’s strongest athletes are preparing to pull a 15 tonne truck 1,650 kilometres from Centurion to Cape Town for charity.
The Bigg Pull will take place over 41 days from November, travelling through more than 20 towns and raising support for charities chosen by the athletes.
The team is also aiming for a Guinness World Record for the longest distance covered while pulling the truck unassisted.
The challenge will be live streamed, allowing people across the country to follow the team’s journey.

Amazing Grace Private School has donated essential items to families in the Eskom community.
Learners, teachers, parents and staff collected food, clothing, blankets, toiletries and household supplies to support families in need.
