Rotary Club supports learner development in Benoni
The Rotary Club of Benoni Aurora has donated equipment to Apricot Tree Stimulation Centre in Northmead to support the development of children and young adults with disabilities.
The donation includes an industrial cake mixer, fridge, speaker, mini exercise bike and projector.
The equipment will support activities such as baking, cooking, exercise and sensory development, helping learners build practical skills and confidence.

Rescued Cape Town horse gets a second chance
A rescued horse named Angel is thriving after receiving care from Giving is Living in Cape Town.
Angel was found injured and pregnant after becoming trapped in a cattle gate, before being taken to safety and receiving treatment.
She later gave birth to a healthy foal named Rascal and has made significant progress during her rehabilitation.
Angel, who was once frightened of people, now allows carers to groom her, trim her feet and care for her.

Johannesburg plants 50 trees at Mushroom Farm Park
Johannesburg City Parks and Zoo planted 50 trees at Mushroom Farm Park in Sandton as part of efforts to expand and protect the city’s green spaces.
The initiative brought together different stakeholders and communities, while also educating young people about environmental care.
City Parks says trees play an important role in the urban environment and encourages communities to take responsibility for protecting green spaces.
City Parks horticulturist Susan Mathunyane says the initiative is about more than just planting trees

Chinese couple continue road trip despite disability
A Chinese couple have spent more than a decade travelling across their country together, after the wife became partially paralysed because of complications from diabetes.
Liu Peijin became his wife’s full time caregiver and converted their car into a camper van with beds, a kitchen and medical supplies.
Since beginning their journey in 2014, the couple have travelled through 31 of China’s 33 provinces.
The trips have helped the woman remain active and avoid some complications associated with long term wheelchair use, while bringing the couple new experiences along the way.
