Tshwane Launches R5 Billion Investment Drive
Story 1
The City of Tshwane is accelerating a R5 billion investment drive to boost growth and create jobs.
Mayor Nasiphi Moya and her mayoral committee visited the Rooiwal power station and Pyramid substation as part of efforts to bring dormant assets back into operation.
The city plans to present some of its assets at September’s investment summit for public-private partnership buy-ins.
Getting Rooiwal running after more than a decade offline is a key step in the city’s turnaround strategy, which also includes revitalising the Tshwane Show Grounds, the fresh produce market, and water infrastructure.
The strategy aims to grow the economy by 3.9% by 2029, attract R17 billion in investment, add R41.5 billion to the local economy, and create 80,000 new jobs, making Tshwane an investment-friendly destination.

Money Smart Week Boosts Financial Skills
Story 2
Money Smart Week South Africa kicks off today, running until 31 August under the theme Smart Money: Financial Foundations for a Resilient Future.
Led by the National Treasury, the Financial Sector Conduct Authority and the National Consumer Financial Education Committee, the campaign is bringing financial education directly to communities through workshops, radio programmes, online webinars and social media platforms.
The initiative comes as only about half of South Africans are financially literate, with low savings and limited retirement planning among the biggest concerns.
Last year, the campaign reached millions across the country, and organisers hope this year’s edition will see even more people learning practical money skills that they can use in their daily lives

Riky Rick Foundation’s “Words That Heal” Continues to Inspire Youth
Story 3
The Riky Rick Foundation, in partnership with Sandton City, continues its campaign “Words That Heal,” using art and music to inspire hope and connection.
Young people are still invited to share messages of healing, which will be incorporated into a “song of hope” to be released on streaming platforms later this year.
The initiative also raises funds to provide free therapy for young people, combining creativity with real support for mental health.
Bianca Naidoo, wife of the late Riky Rick, says the campaign carries on his legacy of uplifting and connecting with people through words and music.
“Words That Heal” continues to spark conversations, encourage self-reflection, and remind everyone of the power of kindness and hope.
