The three-day event highlighted the diversity of Africa’s tourism landscape, bringing together industry leaders, stakeholders and exhibitors from across the continent.

The city says it aims to use the platform to position itself as a destination of choice for both tourism and investment.

Officials say participation forms part of broader efforts to boost the city’s visibility, attract more visitors and unlock economic opportunities through tourism.

Joburg leads environmental awareness activities for Earth Day

The City of Johannesburg, in partnership with Breathe Cities, the Seriti Institute and 33 community organisations will commemorate Earth Day by leading environmental awareness activities as part of the Breathe Better Together project.

The programme which will take place across multiple schools, is designed to create opportunities for learners to engage in hands-on environmental activities that promote clean air.

Activities will include tree planting to support greener communities, recycling demonstrations that encourage improved waste management practices and awareness sessions on air pollution and its impact.

Earth day is commemorated annually on the 22nd of April.

V&A Waterfront recognised for its youth employment programme

The V&A Waterfront has been recognised for its contribution to youth employment and skills development at the World Travel Market Africa Responsible Tourism Awards.

The V&A Waterfront's academy programme has successfully connected 315 young people to job opportunities across 46 businesses since 2023.

CEO Graham Wood says the initiative addresses a critical gap by linking young job seekers with industry opportunities in tourism, hospitality and retail.
